Australia and New Zealand are grouped in the same section because they are both often visited on the same cruise. The most popular time to cruise in this region is typically from September through May.
Australia, the world's smallest continent, offers a slew of wonderful tourist attractions. These include the Sydney Opera House (see picture to the lower right), beautiful harbors, world-class wineries, and the Great Barrier Reef (the world's largest coral reef). Famous Australia wildlife includes kangaroos, koalas, marsupials, crocodiles and wombats.
Australia consists of a wide range of city types. From a modern metropolis like Sydney, filled with fine-dining venues and attractions to more rural and remote areas like "The Outback," where you can be surrounded by a seemingly never-ending desert.
New Zealand, located south-east of Australia, is composed of two large islands and many smaller islands. New Zealand is well-known for having beautiful wildlife and unique landscapes. In fact, it is so breathtaking that a few major motion pictures have been filmed there. The capital of New Zealand is Wellington, a small city filled with many cafes, shops and even a nice museum. The largest city in New Zealand is Auckland, a popular starting or ending point of many Australia & New Zealand cruises.
