Overview Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Called the "Emerald City," this beautiful port metropolis is well known for coffee drinking, having lots of rainy days, and for being the birthplace of grunge music. Tourist Attractions The most famous landmark in Seattle is the (605 foot) Space Needle. For a small fee you can ride to the top of the tower, in an elevator with a see-through wall, to the observation deck (520 feet high) where a nice view of the city is available. This amazing building was built for the 1962 World's Fair. There is even a restaurant located inside the tower, at about 500 feet high (SkyCity restaurant).
Seattle Center is a 74-acre fairground, park and arts and entertainment center in Seattle. Attractions within this area include the Space Needle, Seattle Reperatory Theatre (a Tony Award winning regional theatre), Center House Theater, the Pacific Science Center, Key Arena (home of the Seattle SuperSonics NBA team) and much more. Various festivals occur in this area throughout the year.
Pikes Place Market is a public farmer's market located on the Seattle waterfront. It's home to a multitude of small businesses, including antique stores, seafood vendors and various restaurants. One of the most popular attractions in the market is Pikes Place Fish Market, where crowds of people usually gather to see the employees throw fresh fish to each other, screaming back and forth as they prepare orders for their customers.
Well known for its performing arts, Seattle is filled with venues to see spectacular performances. One of the most popular of these is Benaroya Hall, where you can see the Seattle Symphony Orchestra perform quite often.
Port Location & Parking Fees Seattle International Airport (SEA) is located about 30 miles from the Port of Seattle, with a 30 minute travel time between them, subject to traffic conditions. All driving times are estimates.
Taxis are available at the airport to take you to the pier. The approximate cost from SEA to the port is usually $25 to $40 (one way). Another option is to purchase ground transfers through the cruise line.
